A very eclectic choice in headwear for A/W 2018 – it was great to see hats taken seriously this season with some new hat styles like the Beret making a head start before autumn even really begins.

 

 

Newsboy and Sailor Caps An on-going favorite – look for interesting fabrications to update the look. Styles vary from tailored sailor caps through to voluminous 70’s Bakerboys.

The Beret Another stalwart style, that never goes out of fashion.  Again the updated looks encourage different fabrications including leather and fur and applications from embroidery to bejeweled.

Bucket Hats A favored choice for some major catwalk designers. Printed, patterned, textured or bejeweled the bucket hat will be popular this winter.

Veils and Veiled Hats Veils are on everything from baseball caps through to berets. 

Fedora Hats It will be hard to find a fall or winter season that could not be fashionably improved by wearing the perfect fedora.

Wide Brimmed Hats Many wide-brimmed hats ventured down the catwalks.  Eye-catching and super-stylish the wide-brim hat was celebrated in many forms but the strongest were the Gaucho, newly styled 70’s floppy –and wide brim Fedora’s.

Updated Pillbox Hats Jackie O is the main influence for the new pillbox.  Mostly in bright colours and materials - veiled or unveiled.  Already seen as the new fascinator, the pillbox hat is certainly making a stylish return.

Faux Fur Hats The fall 2018 hat trends don’t lack fur either, mostly going bold utilizing bright colours, patterns or shaggy, long-haired finishes. Combining different textures and colours of fur for their Eighties-inspired baseball cap. Fluffy fur berets with a big pom-poms seem to be favorites.

Turban Hats The eclectic vibe turbans can give to any look was highlighted in the fall catwalk shows. Sleek velvety black turbans for an evening look complimenting a simply styled dress is always a winner, together with more updated embellishments and more contemporary materials makes it a great alternative for the day as well.
